Grand Jumble Sale – 27th Sept 2014

The Batchworth Sea Scouts will be organising their Grand Jumble Sale which will be held at the end of the month and is sure to be a great day out for the locals. A wide variety of items will be on display such as; shoes, jewellery, furniture, book, bikes etc. There will also be a BBQ and other refreshments served at the event which is an ideal addition to the day’s events.

The event will be run from 10:30am – 12:30pm. If you intend to participate as a seller then you are required to phone a week prior to the event in order to have your items collected.

There will be a 30p admission charge for the event which is fantastic value by the scouts team.

Moor Park Mansion Open for Guided Tours – Thursday 18th Sept 2014

Moor Park Mansion is a Grade I listed Palladian mansion set within over 300 hundred acres in Hertfordshire. The mansion which is rich with history is open for guided tours with the next available tour date being the 18th September. The original house was built in 1678. The National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Society (NADFAS) conduct the tours with great knowledge and understanding of the build which was built in the mid 1600’s.

The mansion contains magnificent paintings in its Main Hall, Thornhill Room and its Grand Staircase therefore it is definitely worth visiting.

The tour duration is only one hour, commencing at 10am and finishing at 11am. There is a dress code requirement which states that jeans and trainers are prohibited.

Rickmansworth Wedding Show – Sunday 12th October 2014

The Rickmansworth Wedding Show will be one of the biggest events in the year of 2014. With a capacity of over 600 people at the Watersmeet, the event hosts a variety of exhibitors locally in and from the Rickmansworth area. Whether you are starting your wedding preparations or in the middle of the chaotic planning, the array of suppliers present will be around to help you. The show has arranged 45 outstanding exhibitors for you to browse throughout the day.

The wedding show launched last year in the Watford area welcoming a staggering 450 visitors which included 260 brides registered at the main door. The show was widely received from the brides and exhibitors with some great comments and we are hoping for an even bigger impact this year.

The Watersmeet location is situated in the centre of the Rickmansworth area and can be reached on junction 18 of the M25 and there is also good access to the M40, M4 and M1.

There are numerous car parks in the Rickmansworth area with the majority a maximum stay of 2 hours. If you intend to stay for a longer period then there are car parks offering up to a 24 hour stay, these are signposted when approaching the area.

The show will commence on Sunday 12th October and will run in the hours of 11am-4pm with free admission as well.

Rickmansworth Festival 17th – 18th May 2014

It’s that time of year again where the people of Rickmansworth come together as a community and enjoy good local music and performing arts at Rickmansworth Festival.

This year marks the 21st annual Rickmansworth Festival and 20,000 people are expected to fill out the three different site areas: Batchworth Lock, Canal Tow Path and The Aquadrome on both the Saturday and Sunday. The festival opens at 10.30am until 10:30pm on Saturday and 10:30am to 5.30pm on Sunday.

Batchworth Lock will be where the boat trip booking office and departure point will be located. It is also home to the Batchworth Lock Canal Centre that sells books, gifts and ice creams.

Historically, the festival was an attraction due to the masses of canal boats that were moored along the Canal Tow Path. The festival expects at least 100 types of craft to be moored each year.

If you don’t fancy admiring the canal boats then fear not as previously mentioned, the festival have many music and performing art acts showcasing their talents on stage at The Aquadrome. Rickmansworth festival aims to cater to all age groups therefore genres of music range from: Rock, Folk and even Medieval! The Aquadrome will also have a wide range of trade, craft and charity stalls pitched up.

The festival is funded by local supporters and sponsors and would not be possible without them. Sponsors include: Three Rivers District Council, The Rickmansworth Chamber of Commerce and also The Inland Waterways Association.

The first ever Hertfordshire Pride – Saturday 31st August!!

Hertfordshire Pride will be taking place on Saturday 31st August from 11 am to 9 pm in Cassiobury Park, Watford.

There will be tonnes of diverse entertainment on the day which will appeal to all. This is a family fun day celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans life in Hertfordshire.

Examples of events on the day are as follows:

  • Glam Marquee with Drag stars
  • The Vibe 107.6 Pride stage with local music and entertainment
  • Health & Wellbeing  Marquee
  • Market Zone area offering lots of different products
  • Food Zone area serving hot or cold food and beverages

When the day draws to an end in Cassiobury Park, there will be an official after party at The Flamingo on the pond!
