Formed in 1991, Rickmansworth Waterways Trust was created as an education charity to help raise awareness and celebrate the history and heritage of the waterways in Rickmansworth. The charity do this through five areas, which include: education programmes for primary schools and young people, The Rickmansworth Festival, canal cruises, The Batchworth Lock Canal Centre and finally the charities historic working boat named The Roger.
The charities day to day activities are managed by one full time employee. The rest of the people who help run the charity are volunteers that offer their services free of charge. Rickmansworth Waterways Trust is always looking for volunteers to offer their time, as without them the charity would not stay ‘afloat’.
